SFC /SCANNOW - Files that are required for Windows to run properly must be copied to the DLL Cache.

When you attempt to execute SFC /SCANNOW within Microsoft Windows XP, you may encounter the error message: "Files that are required for Windows to run properly must be copied to the DLL Cache.  Insert your Windows CD-ROM now."  If you have a Windows XP CD which matches the present Service Pack of your installation, you can easily resolve this issue by inserting your Windows XP CD into your CD-ROM drive.  However if you do not have the proper version of the Windows XP CD for your installation, the following steps will resolve this issue: Method 1 (CDROM) Using nLite , merge the present version of your Windows XP CD with the appropriate Service Pack for your installation.  You can determine your present version of Windows XP by clicking Start - Run, typing winver and then clicking OK. APC PowerChute Settings

AVG Antivirus Uninstall - Permission Denied

Manual Removal of LogMeIn

This method works for any Service-Related program that cannot be removed using Add/Remove Programs. Click Start - Control Panel - Administrative Tools. Double-click Services. Right-mouse click the LogMeIn Service and click Stop. Browse to C:\Program Files. Rename C:\Program Files\LogMeIn to C:\Program Files\LogMeIn.old Reboot the computer. Delete the C:\Program Files\LogMeIn directory. You can now reinstall the application. Sometimes, you may also wish to remove the Service from the registry.  You can do so by performing the following: Click Start - Run. Type: regedit Hit Enter. Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services Beneath this registry key, you will see various sub-folders.  Each sub-folder represents a Service that is loaded by Windows.  To remove the Service, right-mouse click the appropriate sub-folder and click Delete.  The Windows Service for LogMeIn is in fact named LogMeIn. Close regedit. Reboot the computer.

Charter Internet Email Access and Email Settings

Charter restricts access to their mail servers to only Charter customers.  If a customer is on Qwest Internet, Verizon, Sprint, Comcast, etc. when attempting to send or receive email using Charter mail servers, they will receive the error message: 571 You must connect from Charter IP space. Malwarebytes Closes

The latest version of Malwarebytes may run for a short period of time and then close if the Trend Micro Antivirus and/or Trend Micro Firewall is installed on the computer. This behavior mimics the behavior of the Trojan.TDSS. The fix is to temporarily disable or remove the Trend Micro product and then Malwarebytes will run as normal.

How do you report spam?

In Outlook, double-click the spam email so that it opens up the email message. Click View and then Options. At the bottom is what is called the Message Header. In Outlook it is called Internet Headers. Highlight and copy the IP Address found after X-Originating-IP. Browse to the following website: http://spam.deadbeef.com/lookup.php Paste the X-Originating-IP Address into the Lookup domain/ip field. Select Spam as the Abuse Type. Click Lookup. This tool will then find the Abuse contact information for the ISP that controls that IP Address. Highlight and copy the email address given. HP Printer Drivers Will Not Install

If you have problems with the HP Printer Drivers not installing. This is the fix: 1. If there are HP Printers in the Printer Control Panel, delete them. 2. Then go to Start - Run - regedit 2. Browse to HKEY Local Machine - Software. 3. If there is an HP folder, highlight it and click Delete. 4. If there is an Hewlett-Packard folder, highlight it and click Delete. 5. Now browse to HKEY Current User - Software. 6. If there is an HP folder, highlight it and click Delete. 7. If there is an Hewlett-Packard folder, highlight it and click Delete. 8. Reboot the computer. You should now not have any problem installing the HP Printer Driver.

Files With Odd Characters Will Not Delete

You may encounter files with odd characters that will not delete. At times, these are hidden files that are within the User's Hidden Recycle Bin which will not allow the Recycle Bin to empty. On a stand-alone workstation, the recycle bin for all users is found at C:\Recycler. On a network using folder redirection, the files are found in the User's Home Directory under My Documents\Recycler. On a stand-alone workstation, you will need to go into Safe Mode and delete the files in question. On a Server, you may need to use a Boot CD such as Active Boot Disk which will allow you to gain access to the drive and delete the files in question.
