Quickbooks - Portfile DBunload Has Failed

To resolve the issue, grant Full Control, Change, and Read permissions in Windows for the shared network folder to the QBDataServiceUser18 user . If the company file is located in a sub folder of the shared mapped folder, assign the permissions to the main parent folder.

A user with Windows Administrator rights can change the folder permissions on the computer that is sharing the folder:

1. Browse to the folder that contains the company file.
2. Right-click the folder and select Properties.
3. Assign permission to the QBDataServiceUser18 user according to your version of Windows:

* Windows XP Professional:
1. Click the Sharing tab and click the Permissions button.
2. Select Everyone and select Full Control, Change, and Read in the Allow column.
3. Click OK
4. Select the Security tab
5. Select QBDataServiceUser18 and select Full Control, Change, and Read in the Allow column.
6. Click Apply and OK to close the windows and save the changes.
* Windows XP Home:

1. Click the Sharing tab.
2. Select Allow network users to change my files and click OK.
3. Select the Security tab
4. Select QBDataServiceUser18 and select Full Control, Change, and Read in the Allow column.
5. Click Apply and OK to close the windows and save the changes.
* Windows Vista:
1. Click the Sharing tab and click Share.
2. Click Change Sharing Permissions.
3. Click the drop-down arrow, select Everyone, and click Add.
4. Select Everyone and select Co-owner.
5. Click Share, and then Close to save the changes.
6. Ensure that the Security tab also allows full permissions for QBDataServiceUser18
5. If the issue persists, ensure that the permissions above are granted to QBDataServiceUser18 on the QuickBooks Program Files folder (C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks 200X)

When using Microsoft Windows Server, you may encounter the error message: "Unable to create a shadow copy."  In the Event Viewer, you may find the following Event: "Event ID: 7001 - Source: VSS - Unable to create a shadow copy."  This event involves the Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS).  Most likely the Server was rebooted while creating a Shadow Copy.  Many websites describe deleting or renaming the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\WBEM directory used by Windows Management Instrumentation to resolve this issue.  This is not correct.  Following are the steps to resolve this issue: Double-click My Computer. You may encounter a Windows Service in Services that has the buttons for Start, Stop, Pause and Resume greyed out.  If you attempt to stop the Service using sc stop [servicename], you encounter the error message: "The requested control is not valid for this service."  To resolve this issue, please perform the following steps: Click Start - Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Services.
