When opening Internet Explorer, you may encounter the error message, "Internet Explorer Has Stopped Working." This error message may occur on a web page which uses Microsoft Silverlight such as msn.com. In the Event Viewer, you may see the error message, "Faulting module name: KERNELBASE.dll, version: 6.1.7600.16385, time stamp: 0x4a5bdbdf" There are a number of issues which can produce this error message. In this posting, we will focus on the issue related to Microsoft Silverlight. To resolve this issue, please perform the following steps:

- Click Start - Control Panel - Programs and Features.
- Uninstall Microsoft Silverlight.
- Click Start - Shutdown - Restart. (Restart the computer.)
- Install Microsoft Silverlight 3.0 from OldApps.com
- Click Start - Shutdown - Restart. (Restart the computer.)
- Install Microsoft Silverlight 4.0 from silverlight.net
The issue has now been resolved. On a side note, you may also find that this issue was related to the HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor or a recently installed printer driver. If so, you may need to install the latest driver/patch for the printer driver.
