Internet Explorer has closed this webpage to help protect your computer

When using Internet Explorer, you may encounter the error message: "Internet Explorer has closed this webpage to help protect your computer.  A malfunctioning or malicious add-on has caused Internet Explorer to close this webpage."

A common cause of this error message is installing an HP Full/Basic Multifunction Printer Driver on top of an existing HP Full/Basic Multifunction Printer Driver. 

To resolve this issue, perform the following steps:
  1. Uninstall all HP Full/Basic Multifunction Printer Driver.
  2. Reboot the computer.
  3. Uninstall Microsoft .Net Framework.
  4. Reboot the computer
  5. Reinstall Microsoft .Net Framework via Windows Updates.
  6. Reboot the computer.
  7. Install Visual C++ 2005 and Visual C++ 2008.
  8. Within Internet Explorer, hit Tools - Internet Options.  Click the Advanced Tab.  
  9. Click Restore Advanced Settings.  
  10. Click Apply.  
  11. Click Reset.  
  12. Click OK.
  13. Install the proper HP Full/Basic Multifunction Printer Driver.

    When using Microsoft Windows Server, you may encounter the error message: "Unable to create a shadow copy."  In the Event Viewer, you may find the following Event: "Event ID: 7001 - Source: VSS - Unable to create a shadow copy."  This event involves the Volume Shadow Copy Service (VSS).  Most likely the Server was rebooted while creating a Shadow Copy.  Many websites describe deleting or renaming the C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\WBEM directory used by Windows Management Instrumentation to resolve this issue.  This is not correct.  Following are the steps to resolve this issue: Double-click My Computer.
