If you browse to Microsoft Windows Update using Microsoft Internet Explorer and receive the error message, Page Cannot Be Displayed, first insure that the System Clock in the lower right-hand corner of your screen is set to the correct time, timezone, month, day and year. You may also need to reset Internet Explorer to Defaults via Start - Control Panel - Internet Options - Restore Advanced Settings and Reset. If this does not correct your problem, you may be infected with the TDSS Rootkit.

It is also possible that the Windows Firewall, Windows DNS, Windows TCP/IP and Windows Winsock has been corrupted. Please perform the following steps to reset these components to default settings:

- Hit Enter.
- Upon completion, reboot.
- Click Start - Run.
- Type: cmd
- Hit Enter.
- In Windows XP, type: netsh firewall reset
- Hit Enter.
- In Windows Vista and Windows 7, type: netsh advfirewall reset
- Hit Enter.
- Upon completion, reboot.
