When you change the domain administrator password, you will then want to update the Symantec Backup Exec Services that depend upon this password in order for Symantec Backup Exec to function. The following Symantec Backup Exec Services normally depend upon the domain administrator service account:
• Backup Exec Agent Browser
• Backup Exec Device & Media Service
• Backup Exec DLO Administration Service
• Backup Exec DLO Maintenance Service
• Backup Exec Job Engine
• Backup Exec Server
• SQL Server (BKUPEXEC)
Please perform the following steps for each of the Symantec Backup Exec Services listed above:
• Backup Exec Agent Browser
• Backup Exec Device & Media Service
• Backup Exec DLO Administration Service
• Backup Exec DLO Maintenance Service
• Backup Exec Job Engine
• Backup Exec Server
• SQL Server (BKUPEXEC)
Please perform the following steps for each of the Symantec Backup Exec Services listed above:
- Click Start – Administrative Tools – Services.
- Double-click the Service.
- Click the Log On tab.
- Confirm that the Service has This Account selected and that the Log On account being used is the domain administrator. Example: DOMAIN\administrator.
- In the Password field, type the new password.
- In the Confirm Password field, type the new password.
- Click OK.
Once you have completed the process of updating each of the Symantec Backup Exec Services with the new domain administrator password, please perform the following: - Double-click the Symantec Backup Exec shortcut.
- Click the Services button.
- Click the Stop All Services button.
- Once all of the Services have stopped, click OK.
- Click the Start All Services button.
- Once all of the Services have started, click OK.
- Click Close.
- Click Cancel.
- Click Yes.
- Once Symantec Backup Exec has closed, double-click the Symantec Backup Exec shortcut to reopen the application. The application should now run as normal.
