The shortcut to Symantec Backup Exec should always be in All Users\StartUp so that it automatically opens whenever a user logs into the Server. A Server should then be locked using CTRL-ALT-DEL when work has been completed on a Server - rather than logging out of the Server. This will keep the Symantec Backup Exec program open and running on the Server.
1. Open Symantec Backup Exec and click Devices.
2. Under storage devices, expand server.
3. Expand stand-alone drives.
4. Right-mouse click the tape drive and select inventory.
