How do you remove AOL?

The following steps will fully remove AOL and AOL Customer Data from the computer.

To remove AOL, please perform the following steps:

Standard Removal
  1. Click Start - Settings - Control Panel - Add/Remove Programs - America Online or Start - Settings - Control Panel - Add/Remove Prorgrams - AOL Uninstaller.
  2. Click Yes to scan for previous versions.
  3. Select all versions of AOL that you wish to remove.
  4. Click OK to Restart when prompted.

Manual Removal
  1. Delete: C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86)\AOL, AOL X.X, or America Online X.X
  2. Delete: C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\aolshare 
  3. Delete: C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\aolcoach
  4. Delete: C:\ProgramData\AOL, AOL X.X, or America Online X.X
  5. Delete: C:\Documents and Settings\[Username]\Application Data\AOL, AOL X.X, or America Online X.X or C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\AOL, AOL X.X, or America Online X.X

The L2TP connection attempt failed because the security layer encountered a processing error during initial negotiations with the remote computer.

You may encounter the following error message when using the L2TP/IPSec VPN Client that is native to the Windows Operating System: "The L2TP connection attempt failed because the security layer encountered a processing error during initial negotiations with the remote computer."  This error message typically occurs when you are using the wrong Pre-Shared Key for your L2TP VPN.  This error message can occur when other components of your configuration are incorrect but the first thing to confirm is that you are using the correct Pre-Shared Key. If you are using the wrong Pre-Shared Key, the L2TP VPN connection will say Connecting for a long period of time and then display the error message: "The L2TP connection attempt failed because the security layer encountered a processing error during initial negotiations with the remote computer."
