The version of Norton Removal Tool that you are using is expired.

When attempting to run Symantec Norton Removal Tool, you may encounter the error message: "The version of Norton Removal Tool that you are using is expired."  This message is normally displayed when the Norton Removal Tool has expired and should be replaced with the latest version of the Norton Removal Tool . However, this error message can be displayed when the version of Norton Removal Tool that you are using is in fact the current version of the Removal Tool.  To resolve this issue, please perform the following steps: Click Start - Run. Type: regedit Click OK. Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SymNRT. Delete the SymNRT registry key. Reboot the computer. The Norton Removal Tool will now work properly.  This issue has been resolved.

This tab has been recovered.

When using Microsoft Windows XP and Microsoft Internet Explorer 8, you may encounter the error message: "This tab has been recovered."  The current tab is then closed and the following error message is displayed: "Internet Explorer has closed this webpage to help protect your computer."  In addition to these error messages, you may also see the error message: "Memory could not be written." There are multiple posts on the internet which recommend disabling Data Execution Prevention (DEP) in order to resolve this issue.  DEP should never be disabled.  DEP is a security feature within Microsoft Windows which has been designed to protect the computer from malware infection.   Typically, the cause of this issue is due to a conflict between Microsoft Java Virtual Machine (JVM) and Oracle JVM.  You may encounter this error message when using the Nvidia website which uses both Javascript and ActiveX.  To resolve this issue, please perform the following...

Microsoft Windows 8 Functionality Requests

Following is a list of functions that I would like to see native in the upcoming Microsoft Windows 8 Operating System: Less Graphic User Interface changes.   I would prefer greater focus on further developing Windows technology rather than the format or appearance of the User Interface.  Changes to the User Interface should be optional. More fully developed Integrity Check.   System File Checker is a relatively simple utility.  I would like to see a sophisticated utility that is able to check the default integrity of the MBR, Windows registry, policies, services, ASLR, DEP, SEHOP, WMI, DCOM, CAPI2, Security Center, Firewall, Visual C++, .Net Framework, Oracle Java, Adobe Flash, Adobe Reader and other third-party dependencies, etc.  This utiility should have the ability to restore all file associations including EXE, COM, BAT, VBS and CMD to default values.  Detection of rootkits like Mebroot, Sinowal, etc. should be native to the operating system. More ...
