MBAM_ERROR_UPDATING(12029, 0, WinHttpSendRequest)

You may encounter the error message MBAM_ERROR_UPDATING(12029, 0, WinHttpSendRequest)  when attempting to update Malwarebytes.  This error is produced when Malwarebytes is unable to access resources found on the internet.  It is always important that Malwarebytes is using the latest updates when utilized.  When a computer is behind a firewall or attached to a Virtual Private Network, Malwarebytes may require a Proxy Server IP Address in order to access resources found on the internet.  However it should be noted that most environments do not require a Proxy Server at all.  The quickest method to determine if Malwarebytes may require a Proxy Server IP Address is to check the settings of Microsoft Internet Explorer: From within Microsoft Internet Explorer, click Tools. When using a web browser to browse the internet, you may receive notification from the Qwest Consumer Protection Program that your computer network is infected with Bots.  You will then find that you are unable to freely browse the internet.  The notification may be similar to the one listed below.  Normally when Malwarebytes has been fully updated and a scan has then been run, Malwarebytes should find and fully remove the TDSS Rootkit.  But if it does not, Kaspersky has created a free tool entitled TDSS Killer .  It very quickly identifies the TDSS Rootkit and removes it. Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) Fails 0x80070490

When installing Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1), you may encounter the error code 0x80070490 at which time the Service Pack fails to install.  The solution to this problem is to install the System Update Readiness Tool for Windows Vista (KB947821) which will correct the system resources which have caused this incident to occur.  The installation/repair process of KB947821 may take more than an hour to complete.  Upon completing the installation of KB947821, please reboot the computer and then install Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1).

0X80070643 Can't complete Microsoft Security Essentials Installation Wizard

You may encounter the error message 0X80070643 Can't complete Microsoft Security Essentials Installation Wizard or 0x8004FF07 when attempting to install Microsoft Security Essentials.  First insure that you have removed any previously installed antivirus application using the appropriate antivirus removal tool.  Once that process has been completed, please follow the following steps: Install Windows Installer Clean Up Utility. Run Windows Installer Clean Up Utility. Highilght Microsoft Antimalware. Click Remove. Upon completion of the removal process, click Exit. Click Start - Run. Type: regedit Click OK Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall. Delete the registry key entitled Microsoft Security Essentials. Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services. Delete the registry key entitled msmpsvc. Reboot. The following steps can be safely performed on a computer that is not a Hewlett Packard brand computer.  If you are using a Hewlett-Packard computer, you will not want to use the following steps. How do you remove Windows XP Service Pack 3?

You may be able to uninstall Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 3 using Add/Remove Programs.  In order to see the Service Pack listed, you may need to check the box next to Show Updates.  If Windows XP Service Pack 3 is not listed in Add/Remove Programs, you may try using the following process: Click Start - Run. Type: c:\windows\$NtServicePackUninstall$\spuninst\spuninst.exe Click OK. Dcom Event ID 10016

This error message may be an indication that you are using a Beta Version of Microsoft Windows XP and/or a Release Candidate of Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 3.  To resolve this issue, you may be able to uninstall the Release Candidate of Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 3 using Add/Remove Programs.  In order to see the Service Pack listed, you may need to check the box next to Show Updates.  You can then reinstall the Official Release of Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 3. Installer Encountered An Error 0x8024800c

This error message can occur if you attempt to install an application while Microsoft Windows Updates is running. To resolve this issue: Disable and then Stop the Background Intelligent Transfer Service. Disable and then Stop the Windows Update Service. Reboot the computer. Delete the folder: C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution Enable and then Start the Background Intelligent Transfer Service. Enable and then Start the Windows Update Service. Run the System Update Readiness Tool. This issue has been resolved.

Setup could not verify integrity of the files needed for installation. Make sure the Cryptographic Service is running on this computer.

How do you force Windows XP to Prompt for Product Key Activation?

The following steps will force Windows XP to prompt for the product key in order to activate Microsoft Windows XP. Click on Start - Run. Type: regedit Click OK. Expand HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. Expand Software. Expand Microsoft. Expand WindowsNT. Expand Current Version. Click on the WPAEvents folder. Double-click OOBETimer. Change at least one digit in the Value data text box and click OK. DCOM Event 10000 and 10005 Error

 Please Note: If you are prompted regarding any DCOM Configuration Warning, please click Yes to record it.  You may encounter multiple prompts regarding this, please click Yes to each one.  This is the process used by DCOM to update any missing registrations which are creating the error in the Event Viewer. Click Start - Run. Type: dcomcnfg If you are prompted by the Windows Firewall to unblock the Component Services Microsoft Management Console, click Unblock. Click Component Services. Double-click Computers. Double-click My Computer. Double-click DCOM Config. You may experience a short delay during this time.  Please click Yes to any DCOM Configuration Warnings. When you encounter no further DCOM Configuration Warnings, please close the Component Services Microsoft Management Console. Please reboot.
