To Remote Desktop to a computer using an L2TP VPN: These steps may be slighly different on your computer depending upon which version of Windows you are using. Click Start - All Programs. Click Accessories. Click Remote Desktop Connection. In the Computer field, enter the IP Address of the computer or the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) of the computer you wish to control. Click Connect. Enter the username and password you use to login to the computer.

How do you setup L2TP VPN Windows Domain DNS using the Watchguard XTM-25 Web UI?

To setup L2TP VPN Windows Domain DNS using the Watchguard XTM-25 Web UI: Browse to the Watchguard XTM Web UI. Click Network. Click Interfaces. Below DNS Servers in the DNS Server field, enter the IP Address of the Windows Domain Controller.  Insure this IP Address is the first in the list. Below this, enter the Primary and Secondary DNS Servers from your ISP. Click Save.  When connected to the L2TP VPN, you will have to use the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) ala host.domain.suffix to access the Computer inside the Windows Domain.  Example: computer01.mydomain.com.

To configure wireless using the Watchguard XTM-25 Web UI:  Browse to the Watchguard XTM Web UI.  Click Network. Click Wireless. Select Enable Wireless. Select Enable Wireless Access Points. Click Configure next to Access Point 1 Enabled. Click Enable Access Point 1. From interface type drop down list, select Optional. In the IP Address field, enter the IP Address. Below Address Pool, click add and enter the Start IP and End IP. Click the Wireless tab. In the Network Name (SSID) field, enter the SSID. From the Encryption drop-down list, select WAP/WAP2 (PSK). In the Passphrase field, enter the passphrase. Click the DNS/WINS tab. In the DNS Server field, enter the DNS Server IP Address. Click Add. Click Return to Main Page. Click Save.

How do you create a Watchguard L2TP VPN adapter using Microsoft Windows?

To create a Watchguard L2TP VPN adapter using Microsoft Windows: These steps may be slighly different on your computer depending upon which version of Windows you are using. Click Start - Control Panel. Click Network and Sharing Center. Click Setup a new connection or network. Select Connect to a workplace. If prompted, select No create a new connection. Click Next. Select Use my Internet connection (VPN). In the Internet Address field, type the Public IP Address of the Watchguard. In the Destination field, give the connection a name. If it is visible at the bottom, check the field that says Don't connect now; just set it up so I can connect later. Click Create. Click Change Adapter Settings. Right-mouse click the connection you have created and select Properties. Click the Security tab. From the drop down list below Type of VPN, select Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol with IPsec (L2TP/IPsec). How do you add users to an L2TP VPN using the Watchguard XTM-25 Web UI?

To add users to an L2TP VPN using the Watchguard XTM-25 Web UI:  Browse to the Watchguard XTM Web UI.  On the left-hand side, click Authentication. Click Servers. Click Firebox. Below Firebox Users, click Add. In the name field, enter the username.. In the passphrase field, enter a passphrase/password for the user. In the confirm field, enter the passphrase/password again. Place a checkmark in the field next to L2TP-Users. Click OK. Click Save.

How do you create an L2TP VPN using the Watchguard XTM-25 Web UI?

To create an L2TP VPN using the Watchguard XTM-25 Web UI: Browse to the Watchguard XTM Web UI.  On the left-hand side, click VPN. Click Mobile VPN with L2TP. Click Run Wizard. At Firebox DB, select Firebox-DB (Default). Click Next. At L2TP-Users Group, confirm L2TP-Users Group. Click Next. At Virtual IP Address Pool, click Add. From drop-down list, select Host Range IPv4. In the From field, enter a starting IP Address beyond the range of your existing DHCP Pool. In the To field, enter an ending IP Address. Click OK. Click Next. In the Pre-Shared Key field, enter a pre-shared key that you have defined. Click Next. Click Finish. To add users to your L2TP VPN, please see the next post.
